SupergridEurope is a newly established organisation with a bold mission: to accelerate the planning and delivery of a pan-European Supergrid, while also stimulating political and societal support for this transformative project. A Supergrid is an internet for electrons - seamlessly routing energy from indigenous wind, water, and solar sources across Europe to where it is needed at any given moment. This infrastructure will enable the continent to be powered by cost-competitive, indigenous, renewable energy.

EU leaders have urged us all to build a genuine Energy Union, requiring ambitious electrification and investments in grids, storage and interconnections, with a view to fully integrating and interconnecting the EU energy market. It is an undertaking of massive proportions. It requires European master plans, drawn up by master architects, to deliver such a mega programme of megaprojects. SupergridEurope is keen to work with all stakeholders keen to wean Europe off fossil fuel for good and turn the vision of free movement of electrons throughout Europe into action.  

SupergridEurope's work is guided by the visionary thinking of the renewable energy pioneer and entrepreneur Eddie O’Connor, whose blueprint book "Supergrid – Super Solution" provides a handbook for what we believe must become Europe’s most transformative infrastructure programme ever. It requires the connection of Europe’s vast wind resources in the north with solar abundance in the south, combining them with flexible hydro and storage and uniting them through high-capacity, transcontinental grids and smart distribution technology, that empowers every European household and business with sustainable, secure and affordable electricity.
